The mirrored double חי symbolizes the Kabbalistic concept of
להידמות ליוצרו, to become akin to the Creator.
 
By honoring life, we align ourselves with the divine will for life to exist.
Jewish tradition teaches that - 
for every blade of grass, there is an angel assigned to it, urging it to grow.
